I recently came across this piece on Slate, and I'm curious to see what the folks here make of it.
LOL! I'm not sure what is worse...this father's hyperbolic and reactionary freak out when presented with his son's sexual exploration, or the pitiful excuse for an advice column response where the person seems more uncomfortable than the father and completely incapable, therefore, of giving meaningful advice. I do hope 'Trevor', the poor youth in this scenario, gets the warm guidance he needs at this time somewhere. There is nothing wrong with exploring ones own sexuality at any age and I'm loathe to think that not only is this boy about to have his desires for his mother stigmatised - it seems perfectly reasonable that he might find her sexually stimulating, she's a woman he loves and is around a lot...and he's a teenage male - let alone the very act of masturbation itself, which the father seems also to have a problem with. What a depressingly sex negative piece from Slate. Disappointing, too, because I've recently read some very good sex positive pieces on there. Recently I wrote a journal entry on my FetLife account reflecting on my own sexuality and sex positive nature, looking back on my childhood with a critical eye toward understanding myself better today. Perhaps I will post it here somewhere. You'll certainly understand why I'm so aghast at this woman's response regarding the very relatable Trevor.
A horny teenage boy is probably using his mother's worn panties as well
I'm gonna say, like the majority of letters to Prudence, this never happened but it's a great story to drive page clicks. but yes, like Tobias said, he's around her a lot and 100 ccs of testosterone an hour will drive a teen to jerk off to anyone
